Free verse, (Based upon a very old tragedy many decades ago)

Note: Oft reality curses and seems to be an unbearable state to have to endure. Yet in this realm Fate, Time, Reality and Death are all-powerful commanders on a ship speeding across the universe. Only stop to get off of it -- is death...

A Sweet Child's Untimely Death Windswept leaves blown upon abandoned house doorstep there rests in peace, as if morning mail. Driveway empty aside from one old red broken tricycle, remnants left behind by the last family living there after the death of their child. Alas, Fate created this lonely and tragic scene, with its sorrows now flown far away. Chill breeze attacks the trees as if to say, sorrows are here and her they will stay, for their child exists no more. Exists no more, echoing savagely - she exists no more! A sweet child's untimely death. Reality's naked and almost unbearable truth. Robert J. Your darkly moving poem reaches a deep emotional space in my being, dear Robert, where emotions are felt viscerally and in every fiber of my being.. such is the penetrating power of your passionate expression in your poignant poem. A piece that resonates with haunting sadness.. masterfully written. Warmest wishes my immensely talented friend.. ~Susan

This beautifully penned poem does justice to the horrific ordeal a family would suffer in such a time of loss.

I can relate to this tragedy as being a witness to the death of a beautiful little girl about three and a half. She ran down our complex steps and her weak little heart just gave out. We watched from our fourth balcomy, down below, the grief of the moyher and aunt and the children who were playing with her. It was heartbreaking and you never forget something so tragic. Your poem got to me Robert and took me right back to that sad moment. Excellent free verse my friend! xxoo
