A Surprise In My Pocket

A SURPRISE IN MY POCKET A pocketful of change, a pocketful of keys, A pocketful of credit cards—I have a lot of these! A pocketful of Kleenex and little mints to chew; What would I do without them? I do not know, do you? Well, as I searched my pockets, one day to my surprise, I found what God had placed there before my very eyes. It wasn't some more money or yet another key, Not Master Card or Visa or candy there for me. No, it was just a promise that He had made one day: If I would simply trust Him, He'd not cast me away. And yet another promise: If I'd repent from sin And trust His blood to save me, He'd come to live within. And so I claimed that promise in my pocket there that day And then the Holy Spirit came in to live and stay. He filled so many pockets with promises all true; I couldn't live without them, and they are ever new. “I'll never leave, forsake thee”; “I am with you alway”; “Let not your heart be troubled, I'll take you home some day.” “A place I am preparing;” “I will supply each need”; “Come boldly to my presence, for you I intercede.” Somebody once had told me they tried to count them all, It came to o'er a thousand as best as I recall. So no matter where the pocket, how many there may be, His promises can fill them and more I still will see. If you have empty pockets, and you feel so distressed, Just look there for a promise and in Him fully rest. For the pocket won't be empty, nor will it ever fail; His pockets full of promises will ever more prevail!

Clarence, I have found God's promises to be not just sufficient but abundantly all I need in this day and age of "post-truth". A beautiful testimony of your faith in a never-failing God. Kudos.
