A Story About Paint

They arrived at the fixed address and rapped on the door
she was either sleeping or what appeared to be dead
four eyes glued to the window, she was laying on the floor
all around her were empty gallons of paint, OD'd on lead

Through a smashed window they came and tried to revive
the ambulance came and took her to the nearest hospital
Her call came in when she was still coherent and alive
"I need fifty gallons of paint , no this isn't a crank call"

What were they to do with fifty gallons of paint and a truck
now that they had the afternoon off they were gonna paint
so they went to the little church to see Father MaCulluch
we can paint this place for free then they watched him faint,

He shrugged and said in Spanish, "Amigo, no me gusta !"
the altar lay bare and forlorn its as if Jesus was saying
paint amigos paint, Coyotito heard an echo "estrella "
and so he painted til' the stars came out while praying

Padre nuestro que estás en los cielos .
