A Spring That Swept In
In a spring that swept in nothing but frost
Breath bating, waiting, no warmth did it bring
Lifting spirits stalled with chilling exhaust
In a spring that swept in
No rays emerge like young sunshine offspring
Our patience was low, now seems all but lost
Each degree lower with less hope to cling
When our page turned, nature over us glossed
Like a bird flying south missing a wing
Halted we're here when she's ready to sing
In a spring that swept in
