A Spider's Concern

It’s hard to let go We spend our lives building connection A web of family, friends, business associates And we fight to hold on, grow and succeed Behavior so engrained in our being that it is truly second nature How can there be any other way Then one day, it’s time to let go Say, for instance, it’s time to retire How do you stop building, caring, competing How do you cut the web I guess that’s a spider’s concern

Very moving, thoughtful piece, Mike! I retired 15 years ago when I was just 51 to help raise grandchildren. I changed webs! Before long, when I'm 71 or 72, I'll have to spin yet another web. The thought is daunting for this aging spider. Janice

No longer trapped by the confines of work ... you still have your friends, and family and you have your freedom to do what you want when you want and you ;build; a new life around that - hubby took early retirement as his cancer was a wake up call as to the fragility of life.We live according to our means and we have never been happier:-) hugs Jan xx
