A Special Poet
A smorgasboard of wonderful poets grace Poetry Soup's pages.
There is always something to enchant, stimulate and entertain for ages.
An easy choice for my taste, to pick the standout one, very special.
To pick a favorite there is nothing for my mind to wrestle.
Every poet is special, to expose their thoughts and ideas online.
My choice for poet exrordanaire is Terry Ireland, his poems are so fine.
His rhyming stories, exceptional, each poiniant message is intentional.
Every line notable, and many of his picturesque phrases, are quotable.
A likeness to Banjo Patterson is constantly confounding, it's astounding.
Terry's humour is distinctive, a laugh and a chuckle, as I read - it's instinctive.
On Soup, a stand-out individual, his poetry always engrossing and original.
As good as any Aussie poet you hear of. Contests, Terry stays well clear of.
He may not be known to new one's here, he has been a poet for many a year.
Read the poems from this man from Hull, I promise they will never be dull.
A crusader for fairness and the true English way, never shy to have his say.
He can wrap an issue in fun and laughter, the poignant message comes after.
Sometimes a tender worded love song, will be his forte for you to read along,
Then maybe a powerfull political statement captivates with words so strong.
Did I mention? if a word doesnt rhyme, he will invent one with full intention.
Humour being a trait of the English, his nationality isn't hard to distinguish.
It was a delight the day I discovered this Brit's poetry so to my liking.
His association with returned vets reminissing his tales, so striking.
If a genie offered me the gift of talent, it would be my delight.
I would choose to have the ability to create the poems like Terry can write.
It's my pleasure to guide those that havent yet found his special qualities.
To all my wonderful talented poet friends, for picking Terry - no apologies.
