A Soldier's Calling When Deaths a Calling

A soldier boy was calling me A faint cry heard all around. But sadly he was dying As he lay there on the ground. I stepped into the mass destruction Of where many heroes lay Taking to them water And reassurance in words so hard to say. I held brave men in my arms Closely to my chest As I cradled them in silence In the moments before death. By Anna Sabrina Tate 29th August 2019.
