A Sojourner's Prayer
I have no place to call home
I have no man to call friend
Alone in this dreadful world
With the sky as my roof:
And the clouds as my blanket
How safe can I be?
I am a sojourner!
I go anyplace my feet can carry me
From the north to the south
And the East to the west
I don’t even know what it is I’m looking for.
But I sure hope someday I will find something
And all my efforts shall be rewarded
Lord give I Strength
To navigate through the storms
To climb high over the mountains
Until I reach my next destination
And the one after that...
Until my feet can carry me no more
I am a sojourner!
I do not spend two nights in one place
Not used to overstaying my welcome
I travel through all kinds of roads
From country roads to narrow paths!
City highways to strip roads!
Through the day and through the night
OH LORD...I need your light!
No one ever asks my name
I do not have any friends
So I call upon you OH Lord
To be my companion in this journey of life
Alone I cannot make it
Because no one is willing to walk with me
I am a sojourner!
If I had wings I would fly
Over cities and towns...villages and kraals
So my journey would be easier & fun
Too bad i only have two feet
I have to follow the long and tiresome roads
OH lord give me patience!
From one city to another...one country to the other.
At least I get to live every man's dream
To travel the world and see places
So I live to testify...
"THERE IS NOTHING OUT THERE"
I am a sojourner!
