A Soft Place to Fall Apart

And when I thought of reaching the heavens,
I whispered, “How beautiful my life has been.”
And just before the light could take me,
a quiet thought arrived, “How beautiful I am.”

But as I gaze into the endless blue,
a heaviness clung tightly to my heart
a cry unspoken, yet so loud,
a silent scream, too loud for words,
too quiet for anyone to hear.

This is a soft place to fall apart
for the feelings I could not say aloud.
I write where my voice cannot reach
this is what remains when words fail me.

And in the end, my heart’s plea remains:
I will always remember how beautiful my life will always be.
