A Soft Knock
A soft knock, and by the door she stood.
She’d come, as I hoped she would
A hesitant “Hello”
Followed by “Shall I go?”
“No. Please stay.
Don’t go away.”
A welcome hug
Tender, with great feeling
Sending messages with its contact
As through our bodies, emotions react
Hands lightly held, guiding to a seat
Where minds could meet as we talked
And touched
Finally an embrace
Tender, unsure
Hoping for more
And then a kiss
Unleashing passion’s bliss.
A dream, of floating in the sky
Not asking why
Driven by irresistible force
As Nature followed its romantic course
Too soon the time to part
For Fate had a different chart.
Occasionally we meet
And as we greet, our eyes
Fire with a flame of subdued desire
Sometimes hands would touch
And through bodies
Thoughts rush
To that special day
Where there was a soft knock
And romance came our way
