A Small Prayer for the World

Written: September 12, 2026, Not For Contest I kindly request that everyone who read the poem offer a prayer for the world and attentively listen the lyrics in the video, to provide feedback on whether incorporating music into the poem would be useful or not, Thanks for your kindness. ******************* Dear World, I bring no Banner— No trumpet for the brave— But only hands grown weary Of teaching hands to wave— Let every border soften Where frightened hearts divide— And may the stranger's sorrow Find shelter at our side— The Earth has borne our thunder Through cities turned to flame— Yet still She gives us harvests And calls us each by Name— So let us choose the gentler— The mercy we withhold— For Peace begins so quietly— One Heart—then another—held.

Beautiful poem and great message. You are right dear Lasaad. Though we tear the world with war and atrocities, earth supplies everything graciously. Peace begins slowly and quietly, may start with one person and is passed onto many. Great music rising into a crescendo and falling into soft silence and again picking momentum.👍❤️

I appreciate your thoughtfulness, my friend; it has been quite a while since I realized the existence of POTD, consistently awarded to the same fortunate recipients, which seems unjust.😂🤔👀😭

Poignant and so fitting for these times we live in. I read the poem then listened to the song and thought the music expressed your prayer for the world quite beautifully. I very much enjoyed this one! Thank you for sharing it Sotto Poet.
