A Sleepless Exchange

A Sleepless Exchange A restless night wears the battle scars of dreams shattered in daylight hours An owl echoes the objection in the darkness as the turning of a ceiling fan counts the seconds of hours, spin by spin A limb scrapes the shingles as the wind recalls the turbulence--- howling through the barren branches forlorn of the leaves of chlorophyll Tangled in the sheets of acceptance where barter plays no role A stone pillow beneath my head while the albatross of broken heart weighs heavily on the chest A train rumbles in the distance, with dejected warning…blows its horn nearing tomorrow, tickets in hand the receipt of acknowledgment a sleepless exchange All Rights Reserved @ Debra Squyres 2013

Damn, this hit hard for me. This is what happens when we let stress and other matters of the heart take over out well-being. Excellent job here!
