A Sky Of Fireflies

As the evening starts to wander in and
The sun finds her place to hide,
I smile and close my eyes as my thoughts
Take me back to another place and time.
It takes me back where a young man
Stood by my side,
Though it had been so long ago
I could still see him stand there and I
Remembered how I loved him so.
We’d walk together hand and hand
Planning how our life together would be.
He taught me how to catch fireflies and told me
How they glowed only for me.
We walked along in the evening night
But that was a long time ago,
We’ve changed as one could see
A sudden breeze brings me back to
This time and reality,
As I open my eyes I see a sky of fireflies
And the man who promised he’d always
Stay by me

This is so beautiful and touching how youv woven this for the prompt: so poignant how you’ve reminisced the moment shared with fireflies, one that remains forever close to your heart. I especially love the opening two lines in this. Drew me right in! Its a very emotive poem! And how you’ve painted imagerh so vividly is captivating! Thank you for supporting my contest! Congratulations on your win
