A Sinner's Plea

A sinner's plea

Whenever that day arrives
at the sound of the trumpet

One that has been prophesied
through the sands of time

A day that both the living and dead
shall be judged

Not by their appearances or wealth
But by their faith they kept through

Withstanding every trial sent their way
Will I ever be worthy of the Lord's judgment?

I am but a human
Created to be stainless

Yet vulnerable to the charms of sin
Will I be worthy of the Lord's kingdom?

Thanks for sharing this. Welcome to Poetry Soup. Meanwhile, I welcome you with God's love, expressed in John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." God bless you.

Nicely written. As I read your poem I thought of a gospel song my mother used to sing called "Heaven Belongs to You". I can hear her singing it now. It said if you live right, heaven belongs to you, if you pray right, if you treat your neighbors right, etc. Take care. God bless you!
