A Sinking Mind

Coffee is my early morning mind Dry mouth for a moment abated A shop of smiling teeth in faces Murderous grins from a paper the same I will take in the senses given As I wait impatiently for my ride Trying to make sense mindless slaughter My own problems can briefly slide My life is like this small coffee shop People come and people can go I stay and am forever cheerful Though relationships seem fickle I will take another fix of caffeine As if somehow this will cure The low ebb of my life’s tide To rise up a sinking mind
