A Single Tear

A Single Tear

Trying to hold it back
It is too hard especially with a broken heart
A single tear flows down my cheek
Telling the world of my sadness
What mistakes I made
Ones that I cannot change
Words I said
Others I should have said
Yet others I could have said but didn’t
Raging in my memory
They tear at my soul
Trying to escape to release the pain
Years, decades they try while they rip me apart
Finally every words is released
Not in a flood
Not in a torrent
But in a single tear flowing down my cheek.

Oh Poet Of Poets may I not shed that single tear, may not the broken heart be there but instead the keys to Paradise. Love Lizzie

Is there a new moon or what? Love the new found inspiration of poets I have been reading today. Glad to see your poetry among them Robert. May the sun always shine down upon you and continue to bring inspiration to your soul. Love, Carol

Awesome poem. Perfectly expressed. Wonderfully written and a nice emotional appeal to any that may stumble upon it--I'm glad I did. ~Laura
