A Silent Prayer
Listen to poem:
I struggle
for appearances
to put up
a strong front
His pain is back
I blurt out a bunch
of cheerful platitudes
as many as I can
I hug my darling
and hold him tight
I can't hide
that
behind each
broad fake smile
I whisper
silent prayers
