A Shining Star
She's an eighteen year old young lady
Who came from San Jose, California
And along with her teammates they won the gold.
She's Amy Chow and a very lucky young lady
Because she took a nasty fall from the balance beam
Just weeks before the Atlanta Olympics started
But she got up and finished her routine
And that was the only reason she competed.
She let her heart, dedication, and determination come shining through
When she got back on the apparatus and finished competing
Because she had an injury to one of her eyes
And could only see out of one of her eyes.
Then at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games
She excelled at the event she specialized in
With a finish in the top eight on the Uneven Bars
And moved on to the Individual Event Finals
Where she had a tie for the silver medal.
The first time I saw her compete
She became an almost sweetheart to me
But now she is my third sweetheart.
