A Shepherd That He Gave To Be Our Guide

CXI

So seldom do our hearts appreciate
Or else instead our love we choose to hide
A man of God who brought our soul to faith
A shepherd that he gave to be our guide

An earthen vessel bearing seeds of life
Amidst a place of darkness ruled by sin
A joyful voice that herald gospel light
To those in silence lost in deep chagrin

The day has come our souls could only quake
As we awake to find that he is gone
When sorrows came, our hearts he did unbreak
And yet his grief he kept with God alone

Such honor that we truly know him not
Who only lived to make Christ known his lot
