A Shadow in the Night

Some people long for the ability to be invisible
Others are invisible against their choice
Ignored, and looked past as though nothing was there
Perhaps its the all black attire that I wear

No one sees me for me, no one looks past the surface
If they did, even the stares of lust would cease
But the people who say that they care
When called upon for help, are found no where

Like a shadow in the night, I am unseen
Too horrific to be acknowledged
If they were to show the slightest kindness
Than they would have to acknowledge my darkness

My past makes the bravest people fearful
Makes them cower in terror away from me
Too much for them to be able to accept
So instead they do what's easier and reject

I am the shadow in the night
Designed to give a fright
Not a single bit of light
Fighting with all my might
