A Sense of Your Self

Good ideas go beyond your
lifetime. It's the best way to
leave our world your state of mind:
words that say who you are--words
that will reach those near and far.

Share the truth as you see it;
tell others how to be it. Tell of
all the things you went through
to do what you had to do.

Let the world know how you feel,
tell them what you did to be for
real, give them the low down, tell
them the deal. Perhaps someone
else has to take your path. Leave
cues that catch them up fast.

It's almost like leaving the world
your deed about what to do and
how to lead. Finally, what you did may
help make the world a better place,
which means your life would not have
been a waste.

People may not know your name,
and it may not get you fortune or
fame, but what it will do is this:
somebody somewhere will know
that once did you exist.

So pick up your pen and paper and write
it. When you leave, it will still be around.
A daily write will help you see the kind
of person you have come to be. That's the
other benefit you would have left: others
will know you had a sense of your self.
