A Seed a Weed a Dandelion

I’m blowing on you, pretty dandelion Making a wish with every breathe Pity your life is really short, then death. I Blow on you again soft dandelion As I watch a breath taking sunset, The sun slipping quickly away, unreal, The golden atmosphere surrounding us Looks like a fairy tale, magical, surreal Blowing again, but fear your end As your sensuous feathery fluff Will soon disperse, Your beauty of downy tufts Lasts for but a while, And then becomes obverse. Mesmerized I blow once more, You float away, could you be shy, Or maybe sad, for soon you’ll die I blow, your soft fluff, it floats up high Such a shame you’ll, be no more, For your seeds and tufts are nearly gone To your bare and centre core. Although known as a mere weed, Your heritage is the daisy flower Your destiny, to spread your seed. Far and wide you will travel dear friend, The joy you’ll give is huge, Although Henry, our Great Dane Our almost human pooch, Followed you far too close And got your seedy fluff inside his nose, He sniffs and incessantly wheezes Have to take him to the vet, As he can’t control, his sneezes!

Yes Alexis my friend, life is short, but the poor dandelion's life is even shorter and the moth even shorter than the dandelion, so we must enjoy what life offers us whilst we can. Take care my dear friend. hugs and love, Jennifer..

Wow, I used to love kicking the dandelions and watching the fly away, as a kid. This took me way back to a fun memory.

I was just like you as a child when it came to dandelions. Once I brought my mother a bouquet of them. She smiled, but didn't put them on display. Had to giggle when the dandelion fibers were bothering your dog. Lovely poem, Jennifer! Really enjoyed this topic too. Hugs, Carolyn

Thank-you Carolyn, you are such a gentle soul and this aways reflects in your kind comments. That was a very sweet thing to do as a child for your mother and take her a bunch of dandelions always thoughtful. Glad the sneezy great dane gave you a smile and that you enjoyed my dandelion poem. Thank you Carolyn! Hugs and Blessings, Jennifer.

G'day Jennifer … I am a true fan of dandelions, and I found them useful for eating the tender leaves or making a tea from the roots. I never classed them as a weed. You also gave the dandelion a positive feel in your verse. I like many have written a verse on the dandelion so it must have an attraction - thank you Jennifer - Lindsay

I didn't know that you can make tea from its roots - first time I'v heard this will try it one day! And the leaves do you put them into a salad? Thanks for a great comment Lindsay - I think dandelions attract all ages - they are just different and pretty. Hugs, Jennifer.

Hi Jennifer, I loved your take on the humble Dandelion. I loved the creative way in which you gave life to the flower. It gives life to so many others. Now you shall have me wondering where the seeds shall end up, can be such a long journey. Loved the content \Jennifer. Have a wonderful Friday. Hugs....Mike. XX

It is such a mobile, pretty, cheeky flower, that I thought it needs to be made to come alive for it is so lively - I'm glad you enjoyed it Mike and I hope you have a great weekend ahead. Hugs, Jennifer.

that was fun how you made it like you were talking to the dandelion , ending with the poor dog!! I wrote like this one time about watching my dog's fur fly up into the air and wondering where it all went!!

Hi Andrea, I thought the poor great dane would be an example of how this beautiful flower gives humans, and dogs, major sinus problems , yet such a pretty flower. Glad you enjoyed me talking to it! Hugs, Jennifer.

Hi Vijay, Thank-you for a wonderful comment - a piece of fluffy dandelion floated past me and immediately I thought what a shame, this flower is already dying, but spreading its seeds, how incredible nature is. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Lovely tribute to the humble dandelion. I think they are a nice bright flower despite the fact that they're classed a weed. Tom.

In the least of expected places one finds flowers that are classed as weeds, but that are so bright and pretty. The dandelion I agree, is one such plant. Blessings Tom, Jennifer.

Hi Nette, I know what you mean, your poems are beautifully depicted in fanciful ways - mine is more of a documentary until the great Dane comes into the picture. Hugs and blessings, Jen.
