A Second In Time

Looking back
 the mirror reflects the years
these eyes now faded
 see the past in hazy images
to hear the experiences and dreams
 no longer attainable;

each of us slipping into the hours
 when days and weeks are blended
to decade years counted by candles
 on the cake of time passing
on the landscape of flesh and bone
 aching from the centuries;

we are but an inkling
 in the millennium recording
when we were young
 aged before our years
marking time and place
 in our own history.
