A Search For the Right Site - Pantoum

She often wondered where her husband went
She thought when they wed he would be a gem
As she recalled, they'd still lived in a tent
When he left she hadn't even missed him

She thought when they wed he would be a gem
A prospector for gold who knew his trade
When he left she hadn't even missed him
He wasn't really worth the fuss she made

A prospector for gold who knew his trade
He couldn't find gold on a gold rush claim
He wasn't really worth the fuss she made
She'd never admit she might be to blame

He couldn't find gold on a gold rush claim
Folks was gettin' rich on the left and right
She'd never admit she might be to blame
She'd picked the claim, it was a lovely site

Folks was gettin' rich on the left and right
He worked and sweat but he never found gold
She'd picked the claim, it was a lovely site
He told her one day he was gettin' old

He worked and sweat, but he never found gold
Then in June his obituary came
He told her one day he was gettin' old
His will made her rich, he'd found the right claim

Then in June his obituary came
As she recalled, they'd still lived in a tent
His will made her rich, he had found the right claim
She often wondered where her husband went
