A Sailor's Tragedy
The sun beamed down on the village below,
But yet no one seemed to know,
For near the shallows of the shore
A man rocked back and forth
sobbing like none before.
In his arms there a body was,
And he the only one to know the cause,
For this woman he seemed to know,
As his conduct seemed to relate
What appeared to be her fate.
Thereafter this tragedy took place,
Haunted features marked upon his face,
The day which he would not forget,
Visions of her ghost often visited him
And the light at the end of the tunnel dim.
