A Rose Fell

A rose fell to the ground, he slowly picked it up and took it home to his dying little girl, as she took the rose from him, she told him this oh daddy, just before you came home I asked Jesus if I could smell a rose just one more time before I died, now my prayer has been granted to me and now I can go home with Him this very night. wrote 4-9-11

Dear James, thank you for your comments and for recounting the tragedy behind this poem. Seeing those "tiny coffins" for children evokes so much sadness. I'm out of town fishing until after Easter -- returning home May 4. Have an EKG May 5. Have a wonderful Easter, my friend! Love, Carolyn

So touching, James. I'm sure her father was distraught knowing he would lose her that night, but her last wish had been granted. Beautiful! Love, Carolyn

Hi James. Thanks for the visit and the comment. This is a fine piece of writing. The ability to use sentiment without submerging into pathos is a rare thing. The emergence of faith and acceptance at the end is a fine ending. Well done. Eamon
