Notes About The Poem

What will you see as you read this surreal poem? How does it make you feel?

A Rooftop Juliet

As men, disguised oak trees, detach,
The snow clings to the roots of fire.
Flicker of white, a battle match,
As men, disguised oak trees, detach.
A rooftop Juliet of thatch.
The lyric flakes - a soothing lyre.
As men, disguised oak trees, detach,
The snow clings to the roots of fire.

I see the fire at Sinai, wrapped in ice, the passion of the Bible wrapped in cool logic. I see the thunder and hear the lightning. ~ gw

No deception at all, for the snow and dried thatch see and hear all, through the spring and beyond the fall.

I'm reminded of war and song...also of Macbeth's last scene, where he lost the battle because they came disguised behind moving tree branches:) great poem in few lines, Kim, you have made us all to think:)

Yes. This is surreal . I think my guess would not be good. Maybe David got it. Or else, send him to the asylum. Haha

LOL! I hope you enjoyed the images! This is not based on a piece of art that I saw, but an Art museum is where I got the idea to write a poem using a surrealism approach. There is no wrong answer.

that's only to the careless observer. The trees are men, detaching for battle, their roots on fire, observed by Juliet. The snowflakes are a lyre, so this must be happening some time ago! I love this poem! Now, based on my interpretation, send me to the asylum.

I love the way all these words sound together. It sounds so dramatic. "A rooftop Juliet of thatch" - very clever. I believe she, the roof is the observer, of the great battle match. No, no, I get it, its an oak forest and a humble thatched roof in a gentle snow to some, but...
