A Romance Becoming

"A Romance Becoming"
I sit with you a dream upon your lap playing loose keys you grasp me in your fingers tight strung I am played hear me beat against your heart 1-2 1-2 I sit with you a dream upon your lap playing loose keys a romance becoming time in me time in you a breath, ours in unison between the lines haunting (LadyLabyrinth / 2020)

Yeah, it's a Booker Prize winner....loving that word 'trope'.

"It all arrived on a Sunday. In August. Like some buried god, forgotten, simmering deep under a heavy blanket of words, uncomfortable and itching for release; each word, a miniscule grain of sand. You'd think, pithy, yet worth forgetting in the year of Covid.

She, that is me, said, “It is far beyond my meagre understanding, why this backwards written story she decided to share with the world, would arrive like flighty manna on my doorstep. I was her daughter and she to me, the unknown song. But here she was delivering stories to me, long after she had left our time, which was out of time and beating sorely, some wretched heart bleeding. What was I to do with an embarrassment, that was shimmering like gold, a prophet to be ignored or made, a dank mark in my desert barking like some errant homonym. I am branded, she is lost. Gold, godly or not, she imprints on my mind, in the time marked out of time - she walks out of time to be seen and heard. However, I am a blog without a story...and She is pure fiction, to me, some lilting fantasy.

Give me what is real. Give me 'trope', "Stop and Smell the Roses" or that classic trope from a boring bored (sic) game, let's think Christmas, think a December past at a friendly table - Monopoly, play the card - "Get out of Jail Free". Round the board twice, the dice rolled and the card was held, more than once. The last Christmas. And there sat you and me, with the grinning card in between.
