A River of Sorrows
Slowly fading away into a world of what once was.
Imagines in the sky he looks to reflect animations of days gone by
And clarity appears to be increasingly more difficult to distinguish
And the fear of perishing from a wasted life fills him with doubts and illusion.
Clasped tightly in hand lies a faded picture of a young man;
Perhaps once a rebel that stands arm in arm next to a beautiful young woman
With infant in hand and a light in her eyes that he knows;
Is gone now because of him.
And while peering between various hanging strands of his colorless hair;
He notices the gray reflects not only the faded losses of color
But also the distorted reflections of truth and love that pull like an anchor
And haunts his broken heart as he struggles to stay afloat
