A Ride Home
I loved you.
So I turned your stones into flowers
I lighted candles for your path to become brighter
I prayed and I lied
and I waited awake late night.
I loved you.
So I smiled and nodded
I drank, I danced
I chose your perfume over the beauty of a spring garden.
And now as I bleed I understand:
I loved you,
so I assumed that you were whispering
“I love you too”
