A Rich Legacy
All men leave behind a legacy
for their children to have when they are gone.
Some are remembered by treasures amassed
like gold, silver, jewels, or a fine home.
My father left a legacy of a different type,
one that is priceless, and very rare-
The life he lived, the example he set,
Of hard work, compassion, love for God, and prayer.
He labored unselfishly all his life
to provide for the family he loved-
Always helping others along the way.
Quietly, he portrayed God whom he served.
He shared his life with the wife of his youth.
For years he stood by her side in the church.
He served his God, and assisted her wherever he could.
These are some of the reasons he was loved so much.
The children he reared are rich
In the values that he held dear.
The legacy that he left behind for them
Is a treasure that will live on in their hearts,
Year, after year, after year.
