A Reversal
What happened to your sunshine beauty
That attracts numberness glance at once?
Where is the shining black hair--
Shines like achkee seed?
Please, no lie, is this a wig?
What happened to your Okagbara legs
That could run
marathons in a second
Are you at war with them?
I remember
days back I did offend you
I would marathon away from you
yet you would catch me
No - stop saying this --
are you a parrot?
You repeat a matter often
at when need and at when need not
I remember
those days you chided me
for prattling
sir, ma I'm not your teacher!
Can you recognize me?
little!
but you can hear my voice?
those days, you once told me
a glance at my back
in the darkness
you have known it's me
I wish i remain young
for this child-like, old age
is nothing, but a reversal!
Blessing Okagbare is a Nigeria athletic, who had won medals for long jump, sprints and other games.
