Rispetto
The rispetto lyric is generally composed of eight hendecasyllabic (11-syllable) lines. In its earliest form, the rhyme scheme was usually abababcc; however, ababccdd is now more prominent. 
My heart whispers secrets to my soul at night,
lost truths overshadowed by the light of day.
Through dreams, fledgling feelings experience flight,
fleeing reality as it drifts away.
Anxiety fights sleep to keep me awake,
micromanaging each minuscule mistake.
And yet, the secret whisperings of my heart
anchor my thoughts, encouraging dreams to start.
Sleep is an abandonment of decisions
where you subconsciously script the part you play.
Your role is subject to many revisions,
from fighting wars to starring in a ballet.
Tethered to the emotions you're perceiving,
fantasy dreams trick you into believing.
And though they're not real; they tend to feel so,
a respite in time where only sleep can go.
