A Request For Peace
Sitting at the edge of the cliff
Feeling the heat on her face
As if the sun could bathe her
With kisses of healing and hope
Hearing the sound of waves
Crashing beneath her feet
Smelling the salt in the air
Begging to fill her lungs with strength
No one knows she is there
Her etched smile always showing
The pain eating away a soul lost
She knows of nothing else
Mouth no longer speaking
Words are never heard
Instead of running here and there
Her spot is fixed barely moving
Time stops for her as a blessing
Peace a gift always wanting
Her ancient once glorious spirit relaxes
Feeling every part of her release
There is no more fighting left in her
No battle or cause to defend
She quietly says goodbye
As she slips into the cold abyss
