A Recovering Soldier

A soldier we have fighting for us,
his time is done, his recovery is a must.
Where does he go, who does he turn to,
questions he should not ask, it's up to me and you.
Did he not protect us, give his all,
it's time for him to receive an American call.
The soldiers put their lives on the line,
should not the government give them their time?
Peace is what this soldier seeks
make him glow from cheek to cheek.
Give this man many a shoulder,
for he is, "A Recovering Soldier."

Poem to reach this Kiwi's heart. Have posted similar poem re next generation. Your cry is heard here. Well written. In poetry soup we are free from war if only for a little while. Hope dipping your pen in ink gives some relief. Hope you reach ears that are listening with hands that can help even one transition from war to peace. Let the Love sent from this land dwell in your heartland. David from NZ

The thought to be selfish, to live for greater ideals and the next generation (for God's Ultimate Good really, which is the Human Spirit's Pinnacle Glory) is a fading concept now-days. Great writing! God bless our men and woman in uniform! The armed forces, Fire Departments and Local Police--they are all heroes to me!
