A Rainy Paradise

I wake up at eight, to a persistent tapping
Rubbing my eyes, I get up to see what’s happening
A gloomy overcast fills the sky
Oodles of raindrops falling from a high

I walk to the kitchen for coffee or tea
While the birds outside play melodies for me
I sip, oh so gently the warm cup in my hand
Walking outside on the wooden porch to stand

I watch all the streams fall off of green leaves
Falling to the mini world below in heaves
On the creaky old swing chair I rest for a while
The peacefulness of it all achieving a sweet smile

I close my eyes and for a moment, forget about all
From everything in the world, for now I’ll just stall
Such a rainy paradise created for me
How it falls, oh so wonderfully, for all to see

This is such a lovely poem and I love the title. You have visually described the scene so well that the reader can quite easily picture themselves there and hear the rain fall. Love the line,’ While the birds outside play melodies for me’ ‘Such a rainy paradise created for me’ especially. Really enjoyed the read. Thank you for sharing. Keep writing. :):)
