A Quiet Man
A quiet man asked his mind
For no one heard his voice
What words should I in silence find
To fill this heavy void?
But no reply graced him
The silence tells no truth
His thoughts betrayed; became so grim
when along came a youth
Are you feeling alright, sir?
You seem to be in pain
What tragedy has now occurred?
So the man asked again
The words, hardly a whisper
Fell short of the boy's ears
I'm sorry what, mister?
The man's eyes welled with tears
The boy, seeing the tears fall
Knelt down and listened close
When words came as a lonely call
He heard them leave his throat
The boy then answered, full of hope
How simple to advise!
Keep count of those who knelt down close
And rise to meet their eyes
