A Psalm of Resolve
Psalm 61
Hear my cry, O God;
attend unto my prayer.
From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee,
when my heart is overwhelmed.
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I;
......
Merciful God trusting in your love and grace
Broken and contrite I am fallen on my face
The world is all upside down, and I'm bereft
Of father, mother, friend; vanites have left
Me nothing I can hold, and sometimes alone
I wonder amidst the raging storms of grief
What else shall I do, I have done all to atone
And yet your justice despise my soul's relief.
It seemed I am pulled down when I need be
Up, battered and wretched, tempted to flee.
O God who is my all, my tower and my hope
My feet falters in dark valleys, and yet I grope
Preferring your chastisment to life's applause
I stand committed to the promise of they laws
No where else to go, but higher still I climb
To find the Rock of all faith, and peace sublime.
