A Promise Will Love You

Winter etched in leafless branches
a chill light morning gently breaking
wrapped in the silence of its peace
you beside me so softly breathing

Raindrops against the windows pane
each fulfilling the chalice of their loves release

Quiet amid the whistled winds
the Cornish leaves nod and bow to the raining dance
impart to them the gardens warmth
so comforted by your dreams

I lay beside you
my body wanting
but no trespass to your sweetest sleeping
for my soul is turned to tenderness

Out beyond the garden walls
sunrise shimmer grows within the fields
and ticking clock pays its homage
to the beauty of who you are

By steady beat my heart keeps growing
while every raindrop falling
in its secret wish of nurturing

And you beside me sleep so softly
through my heady daydreams wandering
your face I see portraits of you smiling
emotions wishing well in your eyes
you are the artists who paints this love alive

I am floating within your dawning skies
I lay there quietly breathing by your side

This completion rushing warmth from deep inside
a promise will love you
for all your life
