A Profile In Courage

She's missing both legs
They were blown off in Iraq
She gets along without them though
   Seems she just took stock
of her situation, pronounced herself fit
~ Now in the United States Senate she sits

Senator Tammy Duckworth's her name
And virtue signaling's not her game
You won't hear her moan and groan
about Trump and Clinton's calls on the phone...

She's far too busy seeing to legislation
   to help wounded veterans' rehabilitation
Three cheers for a remarkable woman and her work
~ A hero midst a club of posturing, pompous jerks

I have heard of her and admire her, you are right, we need more like her in Congress (and everywhere!)

Thanks for the feedback, Michelle, and glad you see her for who she really is, i.e., a woman dedicated to getting important things done for real people. No posturing or whining from Tammy Duckworth. And you are so right: We need do-ers, not critics, in D.C. Thanks again, Gershon

A remarkable woman. Only a poet like you, Would be up to acknowledging anyone on Capitol Hiil. We are too busy shredding the others. I would not want to be there at all right now... Not enough support for many, just holy us...pointing fingers if they have an R or a D on their backside. Then we sling mud. PR

Thank you for your spirited feedback, Panagiota. Very, very kind words you wrote... And I'll admit, I was not a Duckworth fan right up to her election. But now that I've seen how she handles her office, as service(!), she being a server/representative Senator---and not a power-drunk ego-tripper, I am very impressed with her. Thank you again, my dear friend. Blessings, gw
