A Precious Memory

Shutting the lights on today's rayon memories
I trade them in for a moment on the heart
Tinseled thoughts of chivalrous stories
of ancient tales, retold from ear to mouth

Christmas expectations and blue spruce oblations
snow squalls and blizzards, sub zero weather
Inside our dotting duplex a life of rotation
a father daughter union, together we tethered

beneath the well lit recall of yesterday's demise,
lives a treasured memory of father 's minced up pies.

Mystic Rose, thank you for sharing your sweet poem in the poetry contest and congratulations on your winning placement! I miss my dad so much. He went to heaven over thirty years ago, but the precious gift of memories are ours to always treasure. I hope 2022 will be a wonderful new year for you filled with much love and all that is good. God bless you!

That last couplet is so adorable, Mystic. Were you 'daddy's special girl?' (I know my daughter, firstborn of my four kids, sure was). Season's best, Gershon

It is always that way. I remember mother's Christmas puddings. Alas we have to be brave and live without them. Hugs.
