A Political Ploy

We abandoned our home and friends from fear
of brutal gangs, pushing drugs and firearms.
And we took months to reach the US border,
where ICE agents stole my child from my arms.
No amount of begging would deter them,
I'm handcuffed; my boy was taken away.
Zero tolerance means there is no trial
where a judge decides if we get to stay.
They wouldn't tell me where they took my boy,
citing all illegals will be sent back.
And it'd be up to me to find him,
stating, it wasn't their job to keep track.
Please, God, I beg you, help me find my boy,
don't let him be a political ploy.
