A Poets Prayer

Lord, I'm gazing at my computer trying to come up with things to write. I pray that I can compose verse for others that will soothe and delight. Please direct my deliberations so as to provide light and not offend, And that simple words may flow from my pen that folks will comprehend. I want to write not to become rich but for others their lives to enrich, And provide constructive insight and a tad of humor - that is my pitch. I pray that my writings will enlighten others - that is my fervent goal. If I can maintain quality standards it will more than gratify my soul. May everything I compile in some way honor and glorify Your name, And please keep me humble since I do not covet accolades or fame. Lord, I owe sincere thanks to You for any poetic talent I may possess, And I pray for Your steady guidance as on this poetical journey I press.
