A Poets Dilemma

I wanted to write about how wild jungle animals struggle to survive, and why colorful flowers are beautiful, and how it feels to be a human watching the sunrise, and how love and hate balance each other out, and how poets struggle to find words that have meaning, and how the snow and the rain replenish our planet, and how we humans have struggled with war and peace for thousands of years so I decided to let my imagination take command of my writing. That idea worked until I looked out the window and saw the wind blowing the new fallen snow off the roof of my neighbor’s house. Then I thought maybe I should write about what I see with my eyes and feel with my heart and hear with my ears. Then I began to contemplate how other poets make decisions about how to write. Do they use an amazing combination of both imagination and observation like how the words night and day resemble the truth?

Not sure myself...but I figure every poet has or will develop their own unique style...I catch the inspiration when I can and do my best to interpret it...All the best Howard
