A Poet Is

A poet is an architect, building structures with every word
With visions and stories laid out in a rhyme that can be heard.

A poet is a seamstress sometimes sewing a beautiful quilt
With little patches of memories, and sometimes a touch of guilt.

A poet can teach another to feel the majesty of love
With hope and inspiration, finding peace from HIM above.

A poet must rise to the call of an urge that can’t be ignored
Putting ink upon the paper, finding thoughts that have been stored.

So, in the silence of the night or on a bright and sunny day
A poet cannot be voiceless, there is so very much to say.

Now, close your eyes and listen closely for that little voice within
Build your poem, fill it completely, pray the process can begin.

A proper stunning poem which firmly hits the nail on so many heads - I'm so fed up with the world slowly forgetting what a poet is. It's not one of these half baked types that write the "free verse curse"...ooo I can feel a poem coming on. Have you published your works yet - you should they are excellent.

You wove a lovely poem Betty and I relate to every line but especially to the 4th stanza when I first started to write as I would get a line in my head and have to get up at silly hours to get it written down:-) hugs Jan xx
