A Poet

A POET To be a poet I never will be, I've tried but it's sure not for me. A poet needs to to be able to rhyme Trying I struggled most of the time. I was told a Thesaurus to use This explains hard words that I choose. Why use big words in the first place When simple words I could embrace? I really don't think that I am dense, But some poems don't make any sense. To read those with a meaning clear, These are the poems I'd hold dear. Some poets only write in prose, The only way that they have chose. Rhyming would be my way to go, If ever I could get into the flow. Rhyming ones have rhythm and meter To learn it would be a hard teacher Then there is a syllable count, Lines must not exceed the amount. If only I could be found to be, Reading a poem authored by me. Though I've tried being a poet, Each time I always seem to blow it. I've given up poetry for good, I know you'd agree that I should Now I'm perfecting another skill To bungee jump is my new thrill. To be a poet I will never be. Bungee jumping is right for me. Copyright © Vivien Wade 2017
