A Poem For Lovers
This is a throwaway piece, a bauble with Valentine's Day in mind.
T.
Do not cry upon the bridge at midnight,
Or under harvest moons;
Do not sigh into the fade of sunlight,
Or upon the haystack swell;
Do not go into the place of shivers,
Floating like two lost balloons;
Do not flow into the arctic rivers
Where the end of loving dwells.
Smile instead into the eyes of wonder,
And embrace the body tight;
Slip ahead into the wrath and thunder,
Passion raging in the night;
Kiss the lips that part with urgent yearning ,
Taste of love upon the tongue;
May the fires be forever burning
And may the lovers be forever young.
