A Plea For Peace

World war one was fought So that all wars would cease But more than ninety years later We still don't have peace World war two passed Though it didn't end strife It did make a widow Of many a young wife Now in Afghanistan A bereaved mother cries While somewhere in Iraq Another child dies Why do we stand for it? How can we stand by? Whilst innocent people Suffer and die How many valuable Lives must be lost? Before we finally realise It’s not worth the cost How many graveyards Must they fill before? Every world leader Agrees to end war Pray that it's soon For if war doesn't end There will not be a world Left for us to defend

You're so correct...the road ahead is gloom and dread...We can only try and see if one day we can overcome money... Well written...All the best Denis
