A Plan For Tomorrow

Look around, city folks try to catch up
to what can never be done;
they squander money to fit into society,
renting luxurious apartments
in glass and steel skyscrapers...
I keep on dreaming and waiting;
oh, if I had been a millionaire
I wouldn't have wished for these things,
at least, I have a plan for tomorrow.

That dreamed vacation must wait,
and in the meantime I search travel magazines
for the best bargains offered,
and Europe is my favorite destination:
it's people, it's views, it's languages and History....
at least, I have a plan for tomorrow.

Every week portion of my paycheck
is deposited into my bank account,
and it's an awesome feeling to watch my savings grow,
not thinking how fast they will be spent
on an airline ticket to enjoy a month of adventure.
I can pack my bags anytime and leave on that plane today,
but extra cash will be handy to take home some souvenirs
to give to family, friends and neighbors;
at least, I have a plan for tomorrow.

It's July and I am ready to take off,
wearing cargo shorts and a yellow tee shirt
with blue shades and brown sandals...feeling the breeze
in my Chevy convertible as If I were already there,
but all that I have dreamed, wouldn't have been possible
to be achieved without a plan for tomorrow.

sounds great, we have to plan for tomorrow, it is best to think things out before we leap. in my younger days i didn't do that. this was a great write.
