A picture on the parlor wall

Who is that I ask
inquiring of an old black and white photo
on their parlor wall
they look at me strangely
having no clue
they tell me it came with the building
and it just fit the decor
how odd I say
owning a picture
that holds a thousand words
and you have no recollection
of their story or their memories
that stay trapped forever
behind clouded glass
